Louisiana Family Forum Applauds Trump’s 5th Circuit Judicial Picks
Baton Rouge, La. — Today, President Donald Trump nominated U.S. District Court Judge Kurt Engelhardt and attorney Kyle Duncan to fill vacancies on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit. President Trump made the announcement this afternoon. The New Orleans-based 5th Circuit hears appeals from Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi.
Gene Mills, President of Louisiana Family Forum, issued this statement pending the White House announcement:
“Louisiana Family Forum commends President Trump on his nomination of two exemplary individuals for the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. Both Englehardt and Duncan demonstrate a strict constructionist view of the U.S. Constitution and a deep respect for the limited role of the judiciary in our coequal system of government. The quality of both candidates leads me to expect speedy confirmation in the U.S. Senate for both Judge Engelhardt and Mr. Duncan. The 5th Circuit needs jurists of this caliber.”
A Trump advisor said that today’s nominees “embody President Trump’s commitment to picking judges who have a record of excellence and a commitment to a judicial role that is impartial rather than committed to a particular personal or legal agenda.”
